  • March 16, 2024  Wild Onion Dinner   Claremore First Methodist Church, Claremore, OK 74018

  • May 18, 2024 "Old Fashioned Picnic" Will Roger's Birthplace Ranch Oologah, OK.   It is a tradition, carried forward since the inception of the Pocahontas Club, which was founded in 1899.  Today, it is most appropriate to have the picnic at the Will Rogers birthplace ranch, since he was one of the early members of the club.  There will be cultural games and contests, traditional hog fry, live music and good old fashioned family fun.  Open to the Public.

 

  • November 2, 2024 – Annual “Hats Off to Will” Will Roger's  birthday tribute  and wreath laying ceremony at the Will Roger's Memorial Museum. Open to the Public.

  • June 29, 2024 Founder's Day Tour includes Dwight Mission, Sequoyah's Cabin Museum, Lunch, United States Marshalls' Museum, and Fort Smith National Historic Site.  Cost is $80. This includes transportation, museum tickets, and lunch. Tour Guide Keith Austin.

Annual Events

 Wild Onion Feast

The Indian Women's Pocahontas Club will host their Annual Wild Onion Dinner. The event will be held at the First United Methodist Church (1615 N. Hwy 88, Claremore).  Traditional Food will be served including wild onions (the first green of spring),eggs, salt pork, Selu (corn), ham, grape dumplings and many other tasty treats.  In addition to the food there are several fun activities including auctions. Tickets will be available to purchase at the door or by calling Ollie Starr (918) 760-7499.  This event is open to the public and is the primary fundraiser for the Indian Women's Pocahontas Higher Education Scholarship program.

Old Fashion Picnic

The Indian Women's Pocahontas Club will host their Annual Old Fashioned Picnic. The event will be held at the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch (9501 E 380 Rd., Oologah, Ok).  The Club’s distinguished Honorary Members will be honored guests.The event is open to the public and features a hog fry, live music and dancing, traditional Cherokee games and children’s activities. 

Hat's Off To Will

The Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club will host their annual tribute to Will Rogers. The Wreath Laying Ceremony by the Pocahontas Club will begin at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in the Rotunda.  The ceremony begins with the club members, dressed in their Cherokee tear dresses and shawls around the bronze statue of Will Rogers.
